I swear I’m not completely obsessed with Stray Kids. This is two SKZ related posts in a row BUT I saw this prompt and the first person that came to mind was Christopher Chahn Bahng or Bang Chan, the leader of Stray Kids. I also thought of Beyonce but I don’t think I could actually speak in her presence. Chan on the other hand…
I suppose this is what they call recency bias. I listen to Stray Kids a lot, watch so much of their content, interact with the fandom online – so the group is on my mind quite a lot. Especially since they don’t let up on the output, it’s no joke, there is always something new to feast your eyes (or ears) on. And it actually isn’t out of the realms of possibility, that I could truly interact with them if I entered draws or bought enough albums to get a fan call with Chan or any of them.
But a fan call would not be enough for me because I would have a million questions. Like an actual million, I’m barely being hyperbolic and the one minute slot they have for those calls would be woefully inadequate.
And honestly, we wouldn’t talk. This would not be a two way exchange, I would talk that poor man’s ear off. I’m an introvert by nature but given the chance to “hang out” with Chan, I would not let it go to waste.
I’d want to know what songs he’s listening to right now that are inspiring him?
Has he heard Silent Alarm by Bloc Party? In my opinion, it’s quite possibly one of the best albums of the last 25 years, it sounds so out there and experimental, industrial and unique and could be released today and still be classed as ahead of it’s time. I would love to hear a producer’s take on it.
I know Chan gets inspired by things people say and random sounds he hears – what’s the weirdest source of inspiration he’s had? And has it made it into a released song yet?
Is there a song he’s completed that he knows he’d never share? Can he give a hint what it’s about and the sonic vibe?
You have to choose one song that will be on repeat for 24 hours, what are you choosing?
After being a trainee for 7 years and not yet debuting, was he looking to a future where he wasn’t an idol? Did he have a time in mind when he’d stop trying? Or was the drive too strong and there was no giving up?
If Stray Kids were to pick another group or artist to tour with, who would he choose?
What brand of laundry detergent does he use? Does he have a dedicated laundry room? Has he thought about making a new washing machine ending jingle or using one of those in a song?
Oooh, what’s a spoiler to a song, album or content that it tickles you to this day that your fans have never noticed?
And finally and most importantly, does he prefer crepes or pancakes?
That would be the warm up before I ask him anything and everything about his writing and producing process because I need to know everything! And I suppose I might also ask how he is, y’know, because he’s a human too and I would want to know if he is having a good day because he deserves it!
